No Negligence in Health Services, Improvement Must Be Visible in Villages: DC

Deoghar. A detailed review meeting of the Health Department was held under the chairmanship of DC Shashi Prakash Singh at the Collectorate auditorium to strengthen healthcare facilities and make them more accessible to the public across the district. During the meeting, the DC reviewed the functioning of health services at district, subdivision, block and panchayat levels and directed officials to ensure effective implementation on the ground.
The DC made it clear that negligence in healthcare services would not be tolerated under any circumstances. Issuing strict instructions to the Civil Surgeon, he said that improvement should not remain confined to paperwork but must be visible at the grassroots level. He directed officials to ensure the regular presence of doctors and healthcare workers at health centres, uninterrupted availability of medicines and proper functioning of all ambulances and Mamta vehicles.
Emphasising healthcare improvement in remote rural areas, the DC said timely medical treatment for villagers remains the administration’s priority. All medical officers in charge were instructed to conduct regular inspections in their respective areas. Stress was also laid on the rationalisation of health workers and ANMs to ensure adequate manpower at every health centre.
Maternal and child healthcare schemes were also reviewed in detail during the meeting. The DC sought updates regarding registration of pregnant women, ANC check-ups, HIV testing, distribution of iron tablets, vaccination drives and institutional deliveries. Officials were directed to ensure 100 percent vaccination coverage and launch special campaigns to increase institutional deliveries.The DC instructed officials to identify areas where institutional delivery rates remain low. Emphasis was also placed on reducing home deliveries and promoting safe childbirths at hospitals. He further directed officials to strengthen OPD and emergency services and ensure government healthcare schemes reach all eligible beneficiaries.
During the meeting, several schemes and programmes, including PM-ABHIM, Anaemia Free India Campaign, TB Free Mission, Malaria Control Programme, HIV awareness and Ayushman Bharat Yojana, were reviewed. The DC also reviewed the functioning of the blood centre and issued necessary instructions to concerned officials.Expressing displeasure over the delay in operationalising the ultrasound machine and oxygen plant at Sadar Hospital, the DC instructed the hospital deputy superintendent to ensure all machines become functional at the earliest so that patients can receive better healthcare facilities.Deputy Development Commissioner Piyush Sinha, Civil Surgeon, ACMO, hospital deputy superintendent, WHO representatives, medical officers from different blocks, DPM, assistant public relations officer and several officials and staff members of the Health Department were present during the meeting.
