Deoghar: Keeping in view the convenience of residents within the municipal corporation area, a proposal has been submitted to start a weekly market in the premises of the Agricultural Produce Market Committee. Ward No. 23 councillor Shailesh Charan Mishra has written to the Marketing Secretary, requesting that the market be organized twice a week on Thursday and Sunday.
Residents of various wards currently depend on markets located outside the city to purchase daily food items and fresh vegetables. This requires them to travel long distances, leading to loss of time and often forcing them to buy goods at higher prices.
The proposal states that if a weekly market is held within the Market Committee premises, residents will have easy access to fresh vegetables and essential food items at reasonable prices. It will also provide better business opportunities for local vendors.
Additionally, the temporary stalls set up during the market are expected to contribute to an increase in government revenue through fee collection.
The councillor has urged the authorities to consider the matter and take an appropriate decision to approve the organization of the weekly market twice a week, ensuring direct benefits to the residents.
