
Deoghar: The Asmita City League Under-14 and Under-17 sports competition concluded successfully at the Indoor Stadium and KKN Stadium with great enthusiasm and a strong display of sportsmanship. The multi-sport event featured athletics, taekwondo, kabaddi, volleyball, and badminton, where young women athletes delivered impressive performances.
The event was inaugurated in the presence of Chief Guest Deputy Development Commissioner Piyush Sinha, Sub-Divisional Officer Ravi Kumar, District Sports Officer Santosh Kumar, and Secretary of District Sports Authority Ashish Jha. A special highlight of the ceremony was the joint lighting of the lamp by the chief guests along with young girls, symbolizing encouragement and empowerment of female participation in sports.
At the beginning of the programme, District Sports Officer Santosh Kumar felicitated the guests with mementoes. Following this, the competitions officially began across various disciplines.
In Under-14 badminton doubles, the pair of Aarohi and Soumya emerged as winners, while Anusha and Soumya finished as runners-up. In singles, Aarohi secured first place and Anya stood second.
In Under-17 badminton doubles, Laddli and Srishti claimed the title, while Lavanya and Neha were runners-up. In singles, Laddli won the championship and Srishti finished second.
In Under-17 volleyball, DAV School secured first position, while St. Mary’s stood as runners-up. In the Under-14 category, St. Mary’s A team won the title and St. Mary’s B team finished second.
In Under-14 kabaddi, Bharatiya Vidyapeeth secured the first position, while Leela Nand Pagal Baba team finished as runners-up.
The event witnessed the presence of several dignitaries including Secretary of District Sports Authority Ashish Jha, District Olympic Association Treasurer Naveen Sharma, Badminton Secretary Kanishk Kashyap, and Joint Secretary Ankesh Kumar. Coaches including Sonali Dubey, Rahul Saha, Abhishek, Harsh, Girdhari, Praveer Rai, and Nitish Pandit were also present along with a large number of players and sports enthusiasts.
Throughout the competition, a strong spirit of enthusiasm and dedication was visible among the participants. The event not only provided a platform for young talent but also promoted awareness and encouragement towards sports in the region.
