Botched Robbery in Deoghar: Criminal Shot by Accomplice; 4 Arrested with Luxury fortuner

?Deoghar: In a dramatic turn of events, the Deoghar Police have busted a gang of highway robbers following a botched heist in the Mohanpur police station area. The criminals’ plan went south when one of them accidentally shot their own accomplice during the robbery.
?The Incident
?According to the police, the incident occurred late on April 23 near Jaipur Mod. A Tata Magic vehicle, transporting refrigerators from Ranchi to Sahibganj, was intercepted by six criminals traveling in a white Fortuner and a motorcycle. The culprits assaulted the driver and robbed him of ?2,000 cash and his Samsung Galaxy mobile phone.
?Fatal Misfire
?The situation took a turn when the criminals attempted to force the driver into their Fortuner at gunpoint. During the struggle, a pistol held by one of the gang members accidentally discharged. The bullet hit their own accomplice, critically injuring him. The gang rushed the injured member to the Sadar Hospital in Deoghar but fled the scene shortly after. The injured criminal later succumbed to his wounds.
?Police Action and Arrests
?Following the input, a team led by the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) launched a massive manhunt. Deoghar SP Pravin Pushkar confirmed that the police successfully intercepted the getaway Fortuner and arrested four members of the gang.
?The arrested individuals have been identified as:
?Akash Ramani (22), Kunda, Deoghar.
?Shashank Shekhar alias Golu (22), Nagar Thana, Deoghar.
?Shivam Kumar (24), Nagar Thana, Deoghar.
?Rahul Kumar (25), Rikhia, Deoghar.
?Seizures and Legal Action
?The police have recovered high-end vehicles and weaponry from the accused, including:
?One Country-made Pistol and a magazine.
?Three live cartridges and one spent shell.
?A White Fortuner and an R15 motorcycle (without a number plate).
?The broken number plate of the Fortuner (split into four pieces).
?A case (No. 58/2026) has been registered at the Mohanpur Police Station under relevant sections of the BNS and the Arms Act. All four accused have been sent to judicial custody.
