New Delhi/Hazaribagh: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has recovered ?21 lakh in cash, along with jewellery, property documents, and digital evidence, during a search at the residence of a Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC) manager arrested in a corruption case in Hazaribagh.
The accused, Ravi Ranjan Kumar, a manager with Central Warehousing Corporation, was arrested on Thursday for allegedly accepting a bribe of ?1 lakh. He was later produced before a Special CBI Court in Ranchi, which remanded him to judicial custody.
According to the CBI, the case was registered on April 23 following a complaint that Kumar had demanded a bribe to allow continuation of work that had already been officially awarded. Acting swiftly, the agency laid a trap and caught him red-handed while accepting the bribe amount.
Officials said the operation validated the complainant’s allegations and highlighted the agency’s proactive approach in tackling corruption within public sector undertakings. The CBI has also indicated that the involvement of other CWC officials is under investigation.
The agency emphasized that the arrest is part of its broader efforts to ensure transparency and accountability in government functioning. Further investigations are underway to determine whether the case points to a larger network or pattern of corrupt practices.
The CBI has not ruled out additional legal action as the probe progresses.
