DEOGHAR: –In a significant move to tackle the rising cases of snakebite-related deaths in the region, AIIMS Deoghar organized a high-level workshop to launch the “SARPA Project.” The initiative is designed to create a robust framework for snakebite management and ensure that no life is lost due to a lack of timely medical intervention in Jharkhand.
The workshop was attended by the faculty of AIIMS Deoghar along with the institution's Director. Medical experts held extensive deliberations on clinical protocols, the urgency of immediate medical care, and the necessity of spreading grassroots awareness to debunk myths associated with snakebites.
A key highlight of the project is the strategic plan to ensure the availability of Anti-Snake Venom (ASV) and essential life-saving drugs across all government and private healthcare facilities in the state.
Executive Insights:
Dr. Nitin M. Gangane (Director, AIIMS Deoghar): "Our primary objective is to bring snakebite mortality in Jharkhand under total control. We are bridging the gap by focusing on two pillars: ensuring the supply chain of medicines and educating the public on rapid response."
Dr. Sunil Kumar (AIIMS Deoghar): "In snakebite cases, the 'Golden Hour' is critical. If a patient reaches a medical facility promptly, survival is almost certain. Through the SARPA Project, we are strengthening the healthcare infrastructure at every level to handle such emergencies."
The launch of this project marks a major milestone for Jharkhand's healthcare sector, promising a significant reduction in snakebite fatalities through institutionalized medical support.
