Jamshedpur: A wave of discontent over employment opportunities gathered momentum on Tuesday as a protest was launched outside the main gate of Tata Motors in Jamshedpur. Spearheaded by Bunti Singh, the demonstration witnessed substantial participation from local residents demanding fair representation for regional youth in jobs.
At the heart of the agitation lies the demand for prioritising local candidates in recruitment. Protesters alleged that despite being situated in the region, the industrial giant has not adequately accommodated the employment aspirations of nearby communities.
Concerns regarding the welfare of contract workers, transparency in wage structures, and workplace amenities were also prominently raised. Addressing the gathering, Bunti Singh underscored that the movement would persist until meaningful assurances are delivered.
He criticised what he described as continued neglect of local talent and urged both the administration and company officials to engage in constructive dialogue to resolve the issue. While questioning the inaction of authorities and management, protesters maintained a disciplined and peaceful stance, expressing their demands through slogans and placards. Organisers have indicated that failure to address their concerns promptly could lead to a broader and more intensified agitation in the days ahead.
