
Jamshedpur: Chief Justice of the Jharkhand High Court, Mahesh Sharadchandra Sonak, was accorded a formal reception on his arrival in Jamshedpur on Friday, with the district administration extending full ceremonial honours.
Deputy Commissioner Karn Satyarthi welcomed the Chief Justice with a bouquet and a commemorative memento, while a Guard of Honour marked the occasion, reflecting the dignity of the office. The reception was enriched by performances from local tribal artistes, who showcased Jharkhand’s cultural heritage. The Chief Justice interacted with the performers and briefly joined them, playing traditional instruments such as the nagada and mandar, drawing appreciation from those present.
Senior officials in attendance included District and Sessions Judge Arvind Kumar Pandey, Senior Superintendent of Police Piyush Pandey, along with other administrative officers. During his visit, the Chief Justice is scheduled to inspect judicial institutions across the Kolhan region, including civil courts in Seraikela and Chaibasa, to review infrastructure and functioning.
He will be accompanied by Registrar General Satyaprakash Singh. His itinerary also includes visits to key city landmarks such as the Centre for Excellence and the Tata Motors Plant, followed by travel to Ghatshila for an overnight halt. Subsequent visits are planned to Seraikela, Chaibasa, Noamundi, Kiriburu, and Chakradharpur before his return to Ranchi.
Protocol Registrar Neelendu Sharan has directed district authorities to ensure seamless arrangements in line with established protocol. The visit is expected to bolster judicial infrastructure and enhance coordination between the judiciary and district administration across the region.
