Gumla DC Inspects SIR-2026 Special Camps, Directs On-the-Spot Resolution of Voter Issues

Gumla Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer Dileshwar Mahto on Saturday inspected special camps being organised across the district as part of the Election Commission of India’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR)-2026 of electoral rolls.

The inspection was aimed at assessing the ground-level arrangements and progress of the revision exercise. The Deputy Commissioner visited special camps at Karoundi and Puggu panchayats and reviewed the facilities available to voters, applications received and the status of pending cases.

During the visit, Mahto interacted directly with citizens who had arrived at the camps and sought information about the difficulties they were facing during the SIR-2026 process. He also discussed their requirements and instructed officials to ensure that eligible voters receive the necessary assistance.

The Deputy Commissioner sought detailed information from officials about the types of applications received at the camps, their disposal status and cases involving document verification. Officials briefed him about various issues being reported by citizens and the nature of applications being submitted.

Mahto directed the concerned officials to examine every case strictly according to the prescribed rules and provide necessary assistance to eligible applicants. He also instructed them not to keep applications pending unnecessarily.

Nodal officers directed to ensure time-bound disposal

Sub-Divisional Officer Sadar Akhilesh Kumar had been appointed as the nodal officer for the special camp at Puggu Panchayat, while District Social Welfare Officer Aarti Kumari was assigned as the nodal officer for the Karoundi Panchayat camp.

The Deputy Commissioner reviewed the cases received at both camps with the respective nodal officers and sought updates on their progress. He directed them to regularly review all cases and ensure their disposal within the prescribed procedure and timeline.

Mahto said fairness and timely action must remain the highest priorities during the electoral roll revision exercise. The district administration is continuously monitoring special camps being organised at the grassroots level to ensure that voters do not face unnecessary difficulties and that their applications and grievances are resolved according to the prescribed rules within the stipulated time.
