JEE Main exam tampering bid busted at Radha Govind University, three arrested, 70 computers seized

Ramgarh: A major controversy has erupted at Radha Govind University after police arrested three persons for allegedly attempting to tamper with systems linked to the upcoming JEE Main examination. The complaint was filed at Ramgarh police station by university registrar Nirmal Kumar Mandal, following which an investigation is underway.

Among those arrested are university technician Dinesh Kumar Mahto, along with Shakil Ansari and Suraj Kumar from Saran. Another accused, Rajesh Thakur, reportedly managed to escape. Initial findings suggest alleged collusion involving the technician, raising concerns over internal involvement.

Ramgarh DC Faiz Ahmad has formed a committee under leadership of SDI Anurag Kumar Tiwary to look into the matter.

Incident came to light when security personnel noticed computer systems being loaded into a Fortuner vehicle on Sunday, just days before JEE Main exams scheduled between April 2 and 8. Guards immediately shut the main gate and informed police. Authorities seized around 70 computers, a vehicle, and multiple mobile phones from the spot.

According to preliminary information, suspects had gained access to the lab with help from insiders. Allegations indicate a possible attempt to manipulate exam systems through “setting” methods, where control of candidate terminals could be routed elsewhere. However, the exact nature of tampering will only be clear after forensic examination of seized computers.

JEE Main is conducted under National Testing Agency, with technical support reportedly handled by a private vendor. A representative linked to Tata Consultancy Services stated that there is no provision for replacing or altering computers during the examination process, raising further suspicion about unauthorized activity.

Police are continuing the investigation to identify the mastermind behind the operation. Officials indicated that if required, probe could be handed over to Central Bureau of Investigation. Authorities believe further disclosures from arrested accused, especially technician Dinesh Kumar Mahto, could reveal deeper links in the case.
