Police Outreach at Kasturba School, Students Trained to Tackle Cyber Crime and Abuse

Deoghar. In view of rising cyber crimes and crimes against women, district police intensified its awareness campaign and reached Kasturba Gandhi Residential Girls School under Devipur police station area on Wednesday. The session focused on practical ways to stay safe and report offences.Police officials briefed students on common cyber fraud tactics, including OTP scams, fake KYC updates, lottery calls and phishing links. Students were advised not to share personal or banking details with unknown callers or messages and to avoid clicking suspicious links. They were also informed to immediately report any cyber fraud on helpline number 1930.
The session also covered provisions of the POCSO Act, explaining students’ rights and legal protection against abuse. Police clarified that any form of inappropriate touch, harassment or misconduct is a punishable offence and urged students to report such incidents without fear to guardians, teachers or the police.Road safety awareness was another key part of the program. Students were instructed to follow traffic rules, use helmets while riding two-wheelers and avoid using mobile phones while on the road.
The initiative aimed to empower students with legal awareness and self-protection skills. School authorities appreciated the effort, calling it timely and necessary.
Police officials from Devipur police station, along with teachers and a large number of students, were present during the program. Authorities indicated that similar awareness drives will continue across other schools in the district.
