Jharkhand air ambulance crash: Health Minister Irfan Ansari terms it ‘major tragedy’, demands responsibility

New Delhi- Jharkhand Health Minister Irfan Ansari on Tuesday described the air ambulance crash in Chatra as a “very tragic” and “major” incident, confirming that all seven people on board lost their lives after the aircraft went down in a forested area.

Reaching Chatra after the incident, Ansari said the air ambulance vanished from radar while transporting a patient to Delhi. He said rescue teams later recovered the wreckage and found all seven occupants dead.

Expressing deep concern over aviation safety, the minister questioned accountability at the national level, citing similar incidents in recent months. He stressed that people from Jharkhand are often forced to seek treatment outside the state due to inadequate medical facilities, increasing dependence on air ambulances. Ansari assured that the state government would provide full support to affected families and take strict action against those found responsible.

Authorities have launched an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the crash, with aviation experts expected to examine technical data, including radar and flight records.
