BJP Appoints Aditya Sahu as Jharkhand Unit President; 21 Leaders Elected to National Council

Ranchi — The Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday appointed Aditya Sahu as the new President of its Jharkhand unit, with Union Minister and central election officer Jual Oram formally announcing the decision.

Sahu secured the post unopposed after submitting his nomination at the BJP’s state headquarters in Ranchi on Tuesday, as no other contender entered the race.

Currently a Rajya Sabha member from Jharkhand, Sahu was serving as the party’s Working President in the state. He has more than two decades of experience within the BJP organisation and has previously served as state Vice President and General Secretary.

The 61-year-old leader also has an academic career spanning several years. He worked as a lecturer at Ram Tahal Choudhary College until 2019 and entered the Rajya Sabha in July 2022.

Sahu’s appointment is being viewed as politically important, given his affiliation with the Vaishya community, which has historically been a strong pillar of support for the BJP in the state.

Senior party leaders and workers were present during the announcement, including Babulal Marandi, Arjun Munda, Dr Pradeep Verma, Madhu Koda, and B.D. Ram.

In addition, Oram declared the election of 21 Jharkhand leaders to the BJP’s National Council.
