Ranchi: The Forest Officers’ Wives Association of Jharkhand (FOWA) organised its annual winter charity programme on Wednesday at Palash, Doranda, with the aim of extending relief to underprivileged sections of society during the harsh cold season.
Under the initiative, FOWA members distributed blankets, jackets, caps, and essential food items to rickshaw pullers and other needy people in different parts of the city. The beneficiaries welcomed the initiative and expressed gratitude, stating that the support provided much-needed warmth and comfort amid the prevailing cold conditions.
In the evening, bonfires were arranged at key locations including Firayalal Chowk, Ranchi Railway Station, and Hatia Railway Station. The bonfire programme, jointly organised by the Forest Department and FOWA, helped people spending nights in the open to stay warm.
FOWA organises such winter welfare activities every year with the objective of spreading warmth, care, and compassion among economically weaker and vulnerable sections of society.
The event was attended by several office bearers and members of FOWA, including President Ruchi Upadhyay, Secretary Nima Lhaki Bhutia, Joint Secretary Meenu Pandian, Treasurer Ramita Kamboj, Cultural Coordinator Vishakha Verma, members Poonam Ranjan, Sunandita Das, Rekha Rajpurohit, and senior members Leena Rastogi, Ranjana Samanta, and Seema Kumar.
