Jamshedpur: A shocking incident in Jamshedpur’s Sitaramdera area has triggered widespread anger after a 55-year-old warder from Ghaghidih Central Jail was accused of misconduct with a 9-year-old girl.
The accused, identified as Sanjay Kumar Singh, allegedly took the child to the terrace of his three-storey residence, where the act reportedly occurred.
The child’s family grew suspicious when she failed to return home on time. Upon checking CCTV footage from nearby shops, they reportedly spotted Sanjay walking with the girl near Bhalubasa Chowk, which prompted them — along with local residents — to confront him at his house.
Soon, a mob gathered, overpowered Sanjay, and beat him up. His wife, who tried to intervene, was also assaulted by the crowd. When police reached the spot to rescue the couple, the situation turned volatile — with stone-pelting and scuffles with officers being reported.
Police eventually managed to rescue Sanjay and his wife, bringing them safely to the police station. The accused has been taken into custody, and an official complaint has been lodged.
Authorities said the locality remains tense but under control, as police continue to investigate the alleged misconduct and the circumstances surrounding the violent mob reaction.
