Babulal Soren to Contest Ghatshila Bypoll as BJP Candidate; JMM’s Announcement Awaited

Ranchi – The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has declared Babulal Soren as its official candidate for the Ghatshila Assembly by-election, putting an end to all speculation regarding the party’s nominee.

Earlier, it was believed that the name would be revealed by Dhanteras, but the BJP went ahead and confirmed Babulal Soren’s candidature sooner than expected.

On the other hand, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) is expected to announce Somesh Soren, son of the late minister Ramdas Soren, as its candidate today. The JMM Central Committee is currently meeting at Ho Raha Bhavan in Ranchi, and an official declaration is likely soon.

Reports suggest that Ramdas Soren’s son Sumit Soren has already obtained nomination papers from the Ghatshila administrative office.

According to the election schedule, polling for the Ghatshila bypoll will take place on November 11, alongside the Bihar Assembly elections.

The JMM leadership has allowed its local committee two days to finalize the nomination, and the party is expected to make its official announcement by October 17.

Interestingly, Reporter Post had earlier reported that BJP was preparing to nominate Babulal Soren, which has now been confirmed.
