Ranchi – Excitement is in the air as Ranchi prepares to witness the grand burning of Ravana’s effigies at Morahabadi Maidan this evening. The historic ground, which has hosted countless social and cultural events, is set to come alive with the chants of “Jai Shri Ram,” fireworks, and colourful processions as people celebrate the festival of Dussehra.

The towering effigies of Ravana, Kumbhakarna, and Meghnad have already been erected, drawing curious crowds who stopped by to take pictures before the main event. Families, children, and visitors from neighbouring towns are expected to throng the venue, turning it into a sea of festivity.

Beyond its visual spectacle, the celebration carries deep spiritual significance. Dussehra, also called Vijayadashami, reminds devotees of the eternal victory of truth and righteousness over arrogance and evil. For many, the sight of Ravana’s effigy turning to ashes is not just entertainment, but a symbolic purification of society.

As dusk falls, the flaming arrows will light up the night sky, uniting the people of Ranchi in celebration, devotion, and joy.
