Ranchi: Political activity within the Jharkhand Congress is set to pick up pace as the party prepares for a series of organisational and political engagements. Congress's state in-charge K. Raju has arrived in Ranchi on a three-day visit from November 4 to 6, with discussions expected to focus on two key issues: Rahul Gandhi's proposed visit to Jharkhand and appointments to vacant positions in state boards, corporations and commissions.
K. Raju was welcomed at Birsa Munda Airport in Ranchi by senior state Congress leaders and party office-bearers. On November 4, the first day of his visit, he is scheduled to hold a meeting with party functionaries to review organisational matters and discuss preparations for Rahul Gandhi's proposed visit to the state in the third week of November.
According to state Congress leader Sonal Shanti, K. Raju may announce the date of Rahul Gandhi's visit after the meeting. However, the final schedule is yet to be officially confirmed.
The second major item on the agenda is the long-pending appointment process for vacant positions in various state boards, corporations and commissions. The Congress is working on identifying suitable candidates and finalising its list of nominees.
As part of this exercise, K. Raju has convened a meeting of the party's selection committee at the State Guest House on November 5. The committee is expected to discuss the proposed names and work towards finalising the list.
The three-day visit is therefore expected to address both the party's preparations for Rahul Gandhi's proposed Jharkhand tour and its role in the process of appointments to key government bodies. The outcome of the meetings, particularly the announcement of Rahul Gandhi's itinerary and progress on the selection of nominees, will be closely watched by party leaders.
