Three Get Life Imprisonment in Ranchi Builder Kamal Bhushan Murder Case, Two Acquitted

Ranchi — The Ranchi District Court on Monday sentenced three people to life imprisonment in the high-profile murder case of prominent builder and land dealer Kamal Bhushan.

Additional Judge Anand Prakash convicted Rahul Kujur, his father W. Kujur, and their associate Kavish Adnan under Section 302 of the IPC. Two other accused — Rahul’s mother, Sushila Kujur, and approver Munawar Afaq — were acquitted due to lack of evidence.

Bhushan, 55, was shot dead on May 30, 2022, near his residence on Ratu Road in broad daylight, shocking the city. Investigations later revealed that the murder stemmed from a family feud following Bhushan’s opposition to his daughter’s marriage to Rahul Kujur and disputes over property and money.

Police said Rahul, aided by his friend Kavish, carried out the attack while W. Kujur monitored Bhushan’s movements. The trio fled after the shooting and hid the weapons at their residence. While five were arrested in total, only three were convicted as the court did not find sufficient evidence against Sushila and Munawar.
