Hazaribagh (Jharkhand) — Residents, shopkeepers, and political leaders in Hazaribagh expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday after the implementation of the revised Goods and Services Tax (GST) rates. The reforms, which took effect from the first day of Navratri, have provided timely relief to households and businesses ahead of the festive season.
The changes, including the streamlining of GST slabs, are expected to reduce prices on essential commodities, stimulate the market, and curb inflation. MP Manish Jaiswal lauded the reforms, highlighting their benefit to all sections of society and their potential to revive the festive economy.
Local women welcomed the reduced costs of kitchen staples and gas cylinders, while traders expressed optimism about a surge in festive sales. The business community reported an immediate increase in footfall, anticipating a sharp rise in consumer spending.
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said the reforms aim to inject about ?2 lakh crore into the economy by enhancing consumers’ disposable income. Over 50 items, including pre-packaged foods, dairy products, dry fruits, school stationery, essential drugs, and household appliances, have seen their GST reduced or completely waived, bringing relief to both households and markets.
