Giridih - The bodies of two missing women were discovered in Golgo Pahari forest, Giridih district, late Monday. Police arrested Shrikant Chaudhary of Kharsan village, accusing him of murdering Soni Devi (23) and Rinku Devi (31). Preliminary findings suggest strangulation.
Soni Devi had been in a relationship with Chaudhary despite a panchayat ban, and her family alleged he had recently threatened her. Both women went missing Thursday after venturing into the forest. Chaudhary later confessed to the crime, leading police to the bodies.
The discovery sparked protests on Tuesday as villagers gathered outside Gawan police station, accusing police of negligence and corruption. Extra security has been deployed in the area.
