Jamshedpur — In a shocking daylight robbery, armed criminals looted Vardhman Jewellers in Jamshedpur’s Sonari area on Wednesday, escaping with gold and diamond ornaments worth lakhs.
According to police, six assailants entered the store posing as customers before pulling out firearms. They held shop owner Pankaj Jain at gunpoint and began looting the showcases. When Jain resisted, one of them struck him on the head with a pistol butt, leaving him critically injured. He was admitted to Tata Main Hospital, where his condition remains serious.
The gang also fired three rounds during the heist, though no bystanders were hurt. The entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras. Police have launched a city-wide manhunt, setting up roadblocks and reviewing footage to identify the culprits.
Local traders have expressed anger over the rising crime incidents, urging stricter security in commercial hubs.
