
Ranchi: Jharkhand Police recorded significant achievements in curbing crime, Naxal activities and traffic violations in July 2025. The month saw heightened enforcement of road safety measures, major anti-Naxal operations, cybercrime crackdowns and swift action in several criminal cases across the state.
In a bid to improve traffic management, police sensitised 94,823 people on road safety and trained 267 officers in first aid. A total of 1,284 officials were trained in eDAR and iRAD platforms, while 288 police mobile phones were equipped with GPS-enabled applications. Traffic enforcement saw large-scale challans, including 1,21,950 for riding without helmets, 2,499 for driving without licences and 2,515 for overspeeding. July reported 280 road fatalities, with Ranchi recording the highest number at 39.
Anti-Naxal operations led to the recovery of 10 firearms, 544 live rounds, 95 IEDs, 18,020 detonators and ?35.02 lakh in levy money, including ?34.99 lakh seized in Chaibasa on July 27. Police arrested 28 Naxal operatives, while five lakh-rupee rewardee Lovelesh Ganjhu surrendered. Four extremists were killed in encounters.
Cybercrime units registered 108 cases and arrested 38 suspects, seizing 78 mobile phones, 97 SIM cards, 24 ATM cards, a laptop and ₹1.82 lakh in cash. Complaints filed through the 1930 helpline helped freeze ₹2.19 crore, of which ₹32.27 lakh was returned to victims.
A total of 7,298 warrants were executed, 2,333 arrests made, and 171 vehicles, 82 firearms and 354 rounds of ammunition recovered. Police disposed of 278 cases related to crimes against women within 60 days.
Several major incidents were also solved during the month. In Palamu, eight people were arrested with over three quintals of doda and ₹33 lakh in cash, while Bokaro police recovered ₹34 lakh in a robbery case. Two men were held in Chatra with 23 kg of opium. In Seraikela, six suspects were arrested with jewellery worth ₹8 lakh, and in Gumla, brown sugar and cash were seized. Sahibganj police rescued 14 minor girls from human traffickers, and Pakur police busted a fake currency racket.
The police leadership reiterated its commitment to strengthening law and order, intensifying anti-Naxal drives and enhancing citizen safety through continued enforcement and coordinated operations.
