Ranchi: The Jharkhand Janadhikar Mahasabha will hold a protest march to the state assembly on Tuesday, demanding a new local policy, better education opportunities, and fair employment for youth. According to a press release issued by the organization, students and young people from all districts of the state will participate in the assembly gherao.
The Mahasabha stated that there is no option left but to intensify the struggle, as even after 25 years of the state's formation, Jharkhand’s youth remain deprived of quality education and dignified employment opportunities. The organization alleged that this neglect has forced large-scale migration, and accused the government of failing to address the aspirations of young people in the state.
The Mahasabha has put forward seven key demands, including scrapping the local policy introduced under the Raghubar Das government and implementing a policy based on native village identification, creating a permanent and dispute-free recruitment policy, and ensuring priority for locals in all government job appointments. They also seek increased reservations for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, and women, as well as special drives to issue caste certificates and allocate land to landless Dalits. Additional demands include policies to curb migration through social security measures, skill development initiatives, and stronger labor rights, along with increased participation of local youth in research and higher education institutions.
