Ranchi- Chatra district of Jharkhand has emerged as the top performer in NITI Aayog’s Delta Ranking among 112 aspirational districts across India. The announcement was made during an online review meeting conducted by NITI Aayog on Friday.
The Delta Ranking reflects the development progress made by the districts in March 2025 under the Aspirational Districts Programme (ADP), an initiative launched by the Central Government in 2018 to uplift underdeveloped regions.
According to the Jharkhand government, Chatra’s top rank is a result of collaborative efforts, innovative governance, and efficient execution of welfare schemes by the district administration and other government departments.
NITI Aayog praised Chatra's comprehensive development, citing notable improvements in health, nutrition, education, agriculture, financial inclusion, and infrastructure sectors.
As a reward, Chatra will receive Rs 10 crore from NITI Aayog as part of a monthly performance-based incentive scheme to encourage continued progress at the grassroots level.
Chatra’s Deputy Commissioner Keerthishree congratulated the entire administration, departmental staff, public representatives, and the community for this achievement.
“This recognition is a matter of pride for the entire district. It showcases the unwavering dedication and coordinated efforts of all stakeholders towards development,” she said, urging everyone to sustain and enhance their efforts.
Additionally, Jharkhand’s Garhwa district was recognised as the best performer in the education sector.
The Aspirational Districts Programme evaluates 112 districts based on progress in five key areas: Health and Nutrition (30% weightage), Education (30%), Agriculture and Water Resources (20%), Financial Inclusion and Skill Development (10%), and Basic Infrastructure (10%).
