Ranchi: A three-year-old boy from Rangamatia village under Kendua panchayat in Dumaria block died of malaria on Thursday night, highlighting the growing threat of the disease in the region. The boy, Raju Hansda, son of Majhiya and Kuilu Hansda, was taken in an unconscious state to Dumaria Community Health Centre (CHC), where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
According to Dr. Vinay Bhushan Tiwari of the CHC, the child had already passed away before being brought in. The father stated that Raju had been suffering from high fever for the past three to four days. Blood tests confirmed malaria, and treatment was underway through local health workers. On Thursday, the boy was advised intravenous saline, but due to difficulty in finding a vein, he was referred to the CHC. The family brought him by bike, but it was too late.
Dumaria block has emerged as a malaria hotspot, with dozens of villages already identified in the malaria zone and hundreds of cases reported earlier. The incident underscores the urgent need for improved healthcare access and proactive malaria control measures in the area.
