Priyanka Chopra has spent more than two decades in the entertainment industry, building a successful career in both Bollywood and Hollywood. However, during an earlier interaction with veteran actress Simi Garewal, the global star had candidly spoken about one aspect of Bollywood that she found difficult to accept.
During her appearance on the popular chat show ‘Rendezvous with Simi Garewal’, Priyanka said she disliked the pretentiousness and artificial behaviour she encountered within the film industry.
The actress admitted that she had also, at the beginning of her career, started behaving in ways that were not true to her personality as she tried to fit into the environment around her.
“I don't like people who are pretentious, and most of them are. I mean, we do have intelligent people around, but there are so many people who are so fake, that's something I just cannot stand,” Priyanka had said during the interaction.

She added that she herself had been “very, very much” like that initially, describing it as something that was “completely and entirely not” who she really was.
Priyanka made her Bollywood debut with ‘The Hero: Love Story of a Spy’ in 2003 and soon established herself as one of the industry's leading actresses. Films such as ‘Andaaz’, ‘Aitraaz’, ‘Krrish’, ‘Don’, ‘Fashion’, ‘Barfi!’, ‘Mary Kom’ and ‘Bajirao Mastani’ helped showcase her versatility and strengthened her position as a commercially successful performer.
Her career later expanded beyond India, with Priyanka making a successful transition to international projects. She has featured in Hollywood productions including ‘Citadel’, ‘The Bluff’ and ‘Heads of State’, further establishing herself as an Indian actor with a global presence.
Now, Priyanka is preparing to return to Indian cinema with SS Rajamouli's upcoming action-adventure film ‘Varanasi’. She will reportedly play Mandakini, a fierce historian, alongside Mahesh Babu, who stars as Rudhra.
The film reportedly follows Rudhra and Mandakini on a globetrotting mission linked to the threat posed by an asteroid named Shambhavi and the effort to save the holy city of Varanasi.
Priyanka's earlier comments about the film industry continue to offer a glimpse into the challenges of navigating an industry where public image and professional expectations can sometimes be as demanding as the work itself.
