Ranchi: A shocking case of triple homicide has emerged from McCluskieganj in Jharkhand’s Ranchi district, where a man allegedly killed his wife and two young children by bludgeoning them with a grinding stone before fleeing the scene, officials said on Tuesday.
The gruesome incident took place late Monday night in Dhoop Basti, approximately 60 km from Ranchi.
The accused, identified as Ravi Lohara, is believed to have carried out the murders following a domestic dispute. He had been living with his wife and children at his in-laws’ home.
According to police, Ravi attacked his 29-year-old wife Renu Devi and their two children — Aarush Kumar (7) and Aarohi Kumari (4) — with a heavy grinding stone, killing them on the spot.
Their blood-soaked bodies were discovered inside the house on Tuesday morning, sending shockwaves across the locality.
Alarmed residents alerted the police, who arrived promptly and recovered the bodies. A forensic team was dispatched to collect evidence from the scene, and the grinding stone used in the murder was seized.
Ranchi (Rural) Superintendent of Police Sumit Kumar Agarwal confirmed that the accused is currently absconding. "Raids are being conducted to locate and arrest Ravi Lohara. He will be caught soon," he assured.
Locals and eyewitnesses described Ravi as mentally unstable and prone to violent outbursts, especially under the influence of alcohol. He was reportedly involved in frequent arguments with his wife and had earlier clashed with neighbors.
On Monday night, residents heard screams from the house but dismissed them as a routine domestic altercation.
The brutal nature of the crime — particularly the young age of the victims — has deeply disturbed the community. Police continue to investigate the case, and a manhunt is underway to apprehend the accused.
