One of the Paramgurus of the Yogoda Satsanga tradition, Yogavatar Lahiri Mahasaya was a disciple of Mahavatar Babaji — the great Himalayan deathless yogi. Mahavatar Babaji revealed the ancient almost lost science of Kriya Yoga to Lahiri Mahasaya, instructing him in turn to initiate all sincere seekers. A significant feature of Lahiri Mahasaya’s life was his gift of Kriya initiation to the spiritual seekers of every faith – Hindu, Muslim, and Christian. He was a householder-yogi, living a balanced life of devotion and meditation even after performing all his family obligations and social duties. This became the inspiration of thousands of men and women in society leading a worldly life. He gave new hope to the outcasts and the downtrodden of the society and although belonging himself to the highest or Brahmin caste, made courageous efforts to dissolve the rigid caste bigotry of his time.
The celebration of this special day ended with a 3-hour long meditation in the evening, where Brahmachari Ekatwananda read some anecdotes and teachings of Lahiri Mahasaya.
