Major Crime Foiled in Deoghar: Five Gang Members Arrested with Illegal Pistol and Live Cartridge

Deoghar: A major criminal incident was averted by Deoghar police after five alleged members of an organized crime group were arrested with an illegal firearm and ammunition during a late-evening operation on Friday.
According to police, Assistant Sub-Inspector Shankar Kumar Rajak of Deoghar Town Police Station was conducting routine patrol duty with armed personnel on June 6 when he received a tip-off. The information suggested that several individuals were travelling in a white vehicle bearing registration number JH15AP-5093 and were carrying weapons. They were reportedly moving via Deoghar Railway Station and Rangamore towards Bhurbhura Mor with the intention of planning a major criminal act.Acting swiftly on the intelligence input, the information was shared with senior officers. A special team, already constituted under the direction of the Superintendent of Police, launched an operation and intercepted the vehicle. During the search, police recovered one illegal country-made pistol and one live cartridge. All five occupants of the vehicle were taken into custody.
The arrested persons have been identified as Shailesh Kumar Das of Manjhidih, Punsia; Arvindra Kumar Das of Anup Manjhidih, Punsia; Golu Mahto alias Golu Pasi of Tilaiya Nawadih; Lalla Jha of Tilaiya Nawadih; and Rohan Turi alias Vijay Turi of Ratanpur. All are residents of Deoghar district.Police have registered Deoghar Town Police Station Case No. 216/2026 under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and the Arms Act. The seized items include the vehicle used by the accused, one illegal country-made pistol and one live cartridge.Investigators are now trying to ascertain the exact nature of the crime allegedly being planned and whether other members of the network are involved. Further investigation is underway.The raid was led by Town Police Station in-charge Rajiv Kumar. The operation team included ASI Shankar Kumar Rajak, ASI Ghanshyam Ganjhu, ASI Sumant Prasad, ASI Mukesh Kumar Tiwari, ASI Suraj Kumar and armed personnel of Deoghar Town Police Station.
