Health Min creates controversy over Bird Flu Scare after advocating people to eats more chicken

Ranchi: As the fear of Bird Flu is increasing in the capital, Health Minister Banna Gupta landed himself in a controversy after suggesting people eat more chicken. 

Talking to reporters outside the Vidhansabha he said that the Animal Husbandry Minister is keeping an eye on the situation and taking necessary action. He said that there was no need for the people to get worried and claimed that whenever Bird Flu has come he has eaten chicken and one should only ensure that it is cooked properly.

Leader of BJP legislature wing Babulal Marandi said that the state government was not serious about the issue. The statement of the Health Minister has gone viral on social media with people raising questions over preparations of the state government to tackle the disease.

In Bokaro, four thousand chickens have been killed and the experts are making efforts so that the disease does not spread to other areas.

After Bokaro cases of Bird Flu have been detected in Ranchi. Director of the state animal husbandry department Chandan Kumar said that instructions have been issued that an area in a one-kilometer radius should be declared infected to identify the infected birds while monitoring will be done in an area of 10 kilometers.

He said that all the poultries will be surveyed as the administration was serious about the issue. Experts say that when Chicken is cooked at 70 degrees the bird flu virus is killed. As per WHO, there is no proof that cooked poultry has caused Bird Flu in anyone. 

The WHO has said that the bird flu virus is sensitive to temperature and even the Centre has said that there was no proof of people catching bird flu among people but one needs to maintain cleanliness and necessary hygiene.
