Court of justice SK Dwivedi to hear death case of SI Rupa Tirkey

Ranchi: The court of justice SK Dwivedi will continue to hear the death case of Sub Inspector Rupa Tirkey in the Jharkhand High Court.

In the previous hearing, the Advocate General had raised objections over the Judge hearing the case after which Justice Dwivedi had referred the matter to the Chief Justice. He had said that it is now for the Chief Justice to decide as to in which court the matter will be taken up.

The Chief Justice later exuded full confidence over Justice SK Dwivedi and directed that the matter will be heard in his court only. On Thursday while hearing the case the petitioner moved an application to impose a case of contempt against the Advocate general and additional advocate general over which the court has fixed August 31 as next date of hearing.

Sub Inspector Rupa Tirkey posted as officer incharge for women's police station in Sahebganj was found murdered inside her government quarter on May 3. Police had claimed that case was that of suicide and had later arrested the boyfriend of the deceased Sub Inspector Shiv Kanujia accusing him of driving her to commit suicide over demand of money of harassment.

However, the family members of Rupa Tirkey have demanded for a CBI probe into the incident claiming that their daughter had been murdered.
