Lions Club Gumla marks World Peace Day at Gandhi Park

The Lions Club Gumla observed World Peace Day at Gandhi Park, spreading a message of peace, harmony and humanity and urging people to uphold the values of mutual respect and peaceful coexistence.

Club office-bearers and members paid tribute to the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi and took a collective pledge to promote peace, brotherhood and social harmony in their communities.

Speaking on the occasion, club secretary MJF Lion Dr Shankar Lal Jajodia said World Peace Day should not be viewed merely as an annual observance but as an opportunity to reaffirm a commitment to the values of peace and humanity.

“The world needs dialogue, love, cooperation and coexistence instead of war, violence and conflict,” he said, adding that Mahatma Gandhi’s message of truth and non-violence remained relevant in the present times.

Jajodia said the foundation of peace lies with individuals and that respect, tolerance and cooperation within families and communities could contribute to building a more peaceful society.

He said the Lions Club remained committed to strengthening the values of humanity, brotherhood and peace through its various service initiatives.

During the programme, members reiterated their commitment to promoting world peace, social harmony and human welfare. The event also sought to spread awareness about non-violence and encourage people to incorporate peaceful and compassionate values into their everyday lives.

Lions Club president Padam Kumar Sabu, secretary MJF Lion Dr Shankar Lal Jajodia, treasurer Lion Sanjay Kumar Agarwal, along with Lions Ashok Kumar Jaiswal, Manmohan Kesari, Damodar Kasera, Hemant Kumar, Kiran Kesari and Shashi Kiran Jaiswal, among others, were present.
