Ranchi police hold cybercrime awareness session at NCC camp

Ranchi Police on Monday conducted a cybercrime awareness programme for students attending an NCC camp at Birsa Vikas Vidyalaya, urging them to remain vigilant against online fraud and adopt safer digital practices.

The programme was organised on the directions of Ranchi Senior Superintendent of Police. Deputy Superintendent of Police Pradeep Kumar and Cyber Crime Police Station Inspector Rahul Kumar Mishra, along with other police personnel, interacted with the students.

The students were briefed about different forms of cybercrime, common online fraud techniques and ways to use social media safely. Police officials cautioned them against clicking on suspicious links or responding to fraudulent calls and messages.

The students were specifically advised never to share sensitive financial information such as one-time passwords (OTPs), bank account details, ATM information or UPI credentials with anyone.

Officials also explained what steps should be taken if a person becomes a victim of cyber fraud. Students were informed about the national cybercrime helpline number 1930 and the government’s cybercrime reporting portal for registering complaints without delay.

The police urged the students to stay alert to emerging methods used by cybercriminals and encouraged them to share the safety message with their families and people in their neighbourhoods.

Officials said the programme was aimed at strengthening cyber safety awareness among students, helping them become responsible digital citizens and promoting a safer and more informed digital environment in the wider community.
