Former Bihar Chief Minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad surrendered before a special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court in Ranchi on Thursday to serve his sentence in a fodder scam case.
Lalu Prasad appeared before Justice S.S. Prasad, who ordered that he be sent to Birsa Munda Central Jail.
The court said he could subsequently be shifted to the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) for medical treatment, if required.
The Jharkhand High Court had directed Lalu Prasad to surrender by August 30. He had been out on provisional bail since May 11 for medical treatment.
