New Delhi: Actress Sargun Mehta believes that disappointments are an inevitable part of life, but what truly matters is the ability to move forward with determination—a philosophy she says aligns perfectly with the spirit of her upcoming film, “Carry On Jatta 4”.
Speaking to IANS ahead of the film’s release, Sargun reflected on how the phrase “Carry On Jatta” resonates with her personal outlook on life.
“Disappointments are a part of life. Many times we want certain things, but they don't happen the way we expect. Sometimes we feel we can achieve something, but we fall short,” she said.
The actress added that such setbacks are not rare occurrences and can happen frequently. “It may happen daily, weekly or monthly, but the attitude should always be ‘Carry On Jatta’—keep moving ahead,” she said.
The popular Punjabi comedy franchise began with “Carry On Jatta” in 2012. Directed by Smeep Kang, the first film starred Gippy Grewal and Mahie Gill and became a major box-office success. The second and third instalments, released in 2018 and 2023 respectively, featured Gippy Grewal alongside Sonam Bajwa and further cemented the franchise’s popularity.
The fourth chapter, slated for release on June 26, promises another dose of comedy driven by mistaken identities, tangled relationships and a fresh series of hilarious misunderstandings.
Widely regarded as one of Punjabi cinema’s leading actresses, Sargun began her acting journey during her college years before making her television debut with “12/24 Karol Bagh” in 2009.
She went on to earn recognition through hit television shows such as “Phulwa”, “Kya Huaa Tera Vaada” and “Balika Vadhu”.
Sargun entered Punjabi cinema with “Angrej” in 2015 and has since delivered several successful films, including “Love Punjab”, “Lahoriye”, “Qismat”, “Qismat 2”, “Surkhi Bindi” and “Saunkan Saunkanay”.
She made her Hindi film debut with “Cuttputlli” in 2022, a remake of the acclaimed Tamil thriller “Ratsasan”. The film featured actors Akshay Kumar, Rakul Preet Singh, Joshua LeClair and Chandrachur Singh in key roles.
With “Carry On Jatta 4” set to hit theatres later this month, Sargun hopes audiences will connect with its message of embracing life's chaos with humour and resilience.
