Mumbai — Actress Erica Fernandes has shared an on-ground update from Dubai amid the intensifying crisis in West Asia. On Tuesday, she took to Instagram and posted a video showing people in Dubai going about their daily routines during the holy month of Ramadan, even as missiles and projectiles were reportedly being intercepted by the UAE’s air defence systems.
She captioned the post: “Habibi you're still welcome to Dubai.”
Later, Erica clarified in the comments that her post was not intended to compare countries but to present an objective view of life in a nation prioritising safety from external threats.
“Calm down, guys. This isn't a comparison to any other country. I’m simply sharing the reality of the city I call home. It’s easy to judge from the outside, but you won't know what this level of safety and efficiency looks like until you’re on the ground. I’m speaking for the city I live in — we are safe, we are looked after, and the situation is being handled perfectly. Deep breaths,” she wrote.
Her post comes amid heightened tensions in the Middle East following Israel’s strikes on Iran. The region has been witnessing intense bombing, drone and missile attacks after Israel carried out pre-emptive strikes against Iran, reportedly killing its Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei.
In retaliation, Iran launched strikes targeting US air bases across Qatar, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Jordan.
Reports also claimed that Ayatollah Alireza Arafi was killed shortly after assuming the position of Supreme Leader for a brief period. With these developments, global tensions remain high as military movements and defence exercises continue in and around the region.
