Konkona Sen Sharma, Pratibha Rannta’s Psychological Thriller ‘Accused’ Set for February 27 Release

Mumbai – The upcoming psychological thriller Accused, starring Konkona Sen Sharma and Pratibha Rannta, is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on February 27. The film is directed by Anubhuti Kashyap.

Speaking about the project, the team behind Accused described it as a compelling narrative that explores the complexities of human behaviour and moral dilemmas without offering easy answers. The film places women at the centre of a storyline that examines shifting dynamics of power, perception, and belief.

The makers highlighted that with Konkona and Pratibha leading the film, the story focuses on a relationship strained not only by allegations but also by deep-rooted uncertainty and doubt. They added that the film is presented with sensitivity, emotional depth, and courage, and expressed pride in releasing it on Netflix, which supports thought-provoking storytelling over judgment-driven narratives.

Produced by Dharma Productions, Accused follows the story of a renowned doctor based in London whose seemingly perfect life begins to unravel after she faces allegations of sexual misconduct. As public scrutiny intensifies and opinions begin to solidify, the film delves into the impact of the accusation on her personal relationships and examines how perceptions can form even in the absence of clear facts. By portraying a woman as the accused, the film presents a layered narrative centred on conflicting testimonies and uncertainty.

Ruchikaa Kapoor Sheikh, Director of Original Films at Netflix India, described Accused as a powerful and emotionally engaging film that addresses themes of truth, belief, and the personal consequences of allegations. She praised director Anubhuti Kashyap’s sensitive storytelling and noted that strong performances by Konkona Sen Sharma and Pratibha Rannta add depth to the film’s character-driven narrative.

Accused will stream exclusively on Netflix starting February 27.

Konkona Sen Sharma began her career as a child artist in the 1983 film Indira. She later gained recognition as a lead actor in the Bengali thriller Ek Je Aachhe Kanya and rose to prominence with the English-language film Mr. and Mrs. Iyer (2002), directed by her mother, which earned her the National Film Award for Best Actress. She entered Hindi cinema with the 2005 drama Page 3.

Pratibha Rannta started her acting journey with the television show Qurbaan Hua and later made her film debut in a lead role in the comedy-drama Laapataa Ladies.
