Shraddha Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Vicky Kaushal hail Indian women’s team’s historic World Cup 2025 triumph

Mumbai — The festive spirit of Diwali reached new heights as the Indian women’s cricket team clinched a historic victory in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 Final, defeating South Africa at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. The triumph ignited celebrations across the nation — and Bollywood joined in with heartfelt tributes.

Actors Vicky Kaushal, Anushka Sharma, and Shraddha Kapoor were among the first to hail the Women in Blue for their extraordinary achievement.

Shraddha Kapoor shared the euphoric moment on her Instagram Stories, posting a screenshot of the team’s victory celebration. She wrote:
“For decades sirf parents se sunte thhe what 1983 felt like... Humein humara yeh wala moment dene ke liye, thank you girls. This is for generations!”

Anushka Sharma, who was once set to portray Indian pace legend Jhulan Goswami in the now-shelved biopic Chakda 'Xpress,* also expressed her joy. Taking to Instagram, she wrote:
“You champions!! SUCH a momentous achievement!”

Vicky Kaushal praised Shafali Verma for her match-winning performance, sharing her photo on his Instagram Story with the caption:
“Made the game. Changed the game. What a rockstar! @shafalisverma17”

The victory resonated deeply with fans who had long cherished memories of India’s past cricketing milestones — from the Men’s World Cup victories in 1983 and 2011 to the T20 World Cup wins in 2007 and 2024 — while still feeling the heartbreaks of 2003 and 2023.

As Shraddha aptly noted, this moment gave India its own generational sporting memory — one that will inspire countless young girls to dream big.

The 2025 Women’s World Cup win is more than just a sporting triumph; it marks a new dawn for women’s cricket in India — a powerful symbol of determination, excellence, and pride that will echo through history.
