Rakul Preet Singh Loves the Festive Hustle: 'Once a Year, It’s Worth All the Effort'

Mumbai — Actress Rakul Preet Singh says Diwali holds a very special place in her heart, calling it one of her favourite festivals because it brings together the warmth of family, friends, and celebrations.

When asked to describe her Diwali mood in one word, Rakul told IANS, “My Diwali mood is always very excited because I love Diwali. It’s one of my most favorite festivals. The festivities come together with friends, families, everything. So I’m most excited around the Diwali phase.”

Festivals can often bring a fair bit of stress — with endless parties, social obligations, and planning. So how does she keep the joy alive amid the festive chaos?

Rakul admitted that the season can indeed get exhausting, especially for actors constantly attending parties and events. “Trust me, as an actor, getting ready every day and going to different parties — that entire process of two to three hours — can be quite tiring,” she said with a laugh. “But it only comes once a year, and you end up enjoying it because that’s the time you meet everyone — the whole industry.”

She added that she tries to strike a balance: “If I’m too exhausted, I just choose where to go and what to skip. Some obligations can be avoided. But overall, I enjoy this phase — meeting people, celebrating together. Once a year, it’s a celebration you really look forward to.”

Sharing how she personally connects with the festivals she celebrates, Rakul said, “For me, festivals are about coming together — spending time with family and friends, bonding over great food. That’s the real essence of a festival. My personal connection is always about spending time with my loved ones.”
