Mumbai – Actress Janhvi Kapoor has expressed her delight after her film Homebound was announced as India’s official entry for the 2026 Oscars in the Best International Feature Film category.
Calling the experience “nothing short of a dream,” Janhvi took to Instagram to share her gratitude for being part of the project. Posting the film’s poster, the Dhadak actress wrote:
“Every part of this film has been nothing short of a dream—the journey, the people, the meaning of the story, and how personal it has been for each of us. I’ve felt grateful at every step, just to witness this journey, which itself has been the real reward.”
She further added: “Everything since then has been a celebration of the people I admire and respect—for their talent, kindness, and courage. This film, and its journey, has been about hope in ways one could hardly expect to see on screen.”
Producer Karan Johar also shared his excitement, saying:
“We are deeply honoured and humbled that Homebound has been selected as India’s official entry to the Academy Awards. Neeraj Ghaywan’s labour of love is bound to find a home in millions of hearts across the world.”

“I’m truly honoured that Homebound has been chosen to represent India at the Oscars. Rooted in our land and our people, it reflects the spirit of home we all share. Taking our stories to the world and standing on one of cinema’s biggest global stages is both humbling and a matter of great pride.”
Backed by Dharma Productions, Homebound stars Janhvi Kapoor, Ishaan Khatter, and Vishal Jethwa. The film is set to release in theatres on September 26.
