Mannara Chopra, Avika Gor Recall Childhood Independence Day Memories

Mumbai: Actors Mannara Chopra and Avika Gor reflected on what freedom means to them while sharing cherished childhood memories of Independence Day.

For Mannara, independence is “the soul’s ability to dance freely to its own rhythm” — speaking one’s truth, standing for what’s right, and gracefully rejecting what’s wrong. As a child, her celebrations included kite flying with neighbours, school painting competitions, and singing patriotic songs in the choir. Drawing inspiration from her maternal family’s Army background, she honours freedom fighters like Rani Lakshmibai, Sarojini Naidu, and Kasturba Gandhi.

Avika defines freedom as “living life on your own terms, with dignity and respect.” She fondly remembers flag-hoisting ceremonies, dressing in tricolour, and hearing stories of bravery from her late grandfather, who served in the Indian Air Force. She especially admires Rani Lakshmibai’s fearlessness and hopes to portray her on screen.

Both actresses urged youth to dream big, speak up, vote, and help create a safe, equal, and inclusive society.

Avika is currently a contestant on the upcoming reality show Pati Patni Aur Panga on Colors TV, while Mannara was last seen in Laughter Chefs – Unlimited Entertainment.
