Anshula Kapoor on Her Exit from The Traitors: 'I Was Excited to Go Home'

Mumbai — The first season of the reality show The Traitors, hosted by Karan Johar, is approaching its grand finale. In the latest episode, five contestants — Anshula Kapoor, Janvee Gaur, Elnaaz Norouzi, Sufi Motiwala, and Jannat Zubair — were eliminated.

Speaking to IANS about her elimination, Anshula Kapoor shared, “Honestly, when I got voted out, my instincts never pointed towards Elnaaz being a traitor. I defended her strongly, even though not all of that was shown on television. I think that swayed the people who were unsure about me — they started questioning my loyalty because I stood by her.”

Anshula revealed that she was actually looking forward to going home. “In some ways, my game ended when hers did. But I left with a smile. I was laughing as I got up from the Circular Shock table — I just couldn’t hide it! I was excited to go home and talk to my brother, though I was also nervous about being away from familiar faces like Maheet Chachi and Elnaaz,” she added.

When asked what made her agree to participate in The Traitors, Anshula explained, “That year, I made a personal decision to say 'yes' to things that scare me — especially the ones that don’t feel instinctive. Usually, when something scares me, it means I need to try it. I wanted to push myself out of my comfort zone. Whether it was writing a book, doing a reality show like The Traitors, or performing a spoken word piece — I said yes to all of it.”

She expressed that she’s glad she participated, as the show turned out to be a truly unique experience for her.

When asked who she thought was the most fake contestant, Anshula diplomatically responded, “I wouldn’t say fake, but there were people who projected one image and behaved differently. Some contestants stayed so quiet in the background that I couldn’t fully read them, even till the end.”

The finale of The Traitors will stream on July 3 on Prime Video, where the identities of the real traitors will finally be revealed.
