Fatima Sana Shaikh Opens Up About Self-Doubt During ‘Ludo’, Says Anurag Basu Taught Her to Trust Her Instincts

Mumbai: Actress Fatima Sana Shaikh, who is currently gearing up for the release of her upcoming film Metro... In Dino, shared how working with director Anurag Basu has helped her grow as an actor—especially after her earlier collaboration with him on Ludo.

In a candid conversation with IANS, Fatima recalled how uncertain she felt about her acting during Ludo, which was released amid the pandemic. However, being on set with Anurag Basu changed everything for her.

“When you surrender yourself to his process, you naturally start to relax,” Fatima said. “You stop overthinking and become more instinctive. That’s what happened to me. I found clarity while working on Ludo. At the time, I was very unsure of myself as an actor. Then one day he just said, ‘Stop doubting yourself. What you’re doing is right. Your instincts are correct.’ That simple reassurance changed everything for me.”

She added that receiving such validation from a filmmaker like Anurag Basu meant a lot, especially early in her career. “He may not realize the weight his words carry, but for someone new like me, it shifted my whole approach to acting. I stopped second-guessing myself and began trusting my choices.”

Fatima also reflected on her experience filming Metro... In Dino, saying, “This time, I felt I had more control over my craft. During Ludo, I had surrendered myself completely, but now I feel I’ve grown and improved. Working with him again was easier because of that growth.”
