Mumbai: Veteran actress Padmini Kolhapure recently revealed the thoughtful and collaborative process her niece, Shraddha Kapoor, follows when choosing film roles.
Padmini explained that Shraddha, known for her role in Stree, doesn’t make career decisions on her own. Instead, she consults closely with her family — including her mother Shivangi Kolhapure, father Shakti Kapoor, sister Tejaswini, aunt Padmini herself, and even Padmini’s husband. This strong family support system helps Shraddha carefully weigh the pros and cons of each role to make well-informed decisions aligned with her career goals and values.
“Shraddha listens to everyone — her mom, Tejaswini, me, her dad, and even my husband,” Padmini told IANS. “She takes everyone’s advice into account, thinks it over, and then trusts her instincts to make the final call.”
Padmini, who is Shraddha’s aunt, is the sister of Shivangi Kolhapure, a former actress and wife of veteran actor Shakti Kapoor. Together, they are the parents of Shraddha and Siddhanth Kapoor.
Padmini also spoke about mentoring her son, Priyaank Sharma, who debuted in the 2019 film Sab Kushal Mangal. She described herself as his harshest critic and said that he was never pressured into acting. Instead, the family supported his interest while making sure he was prepared for the demanding nature of the film industry.
“The film released in 2019, and then the pandemic hit, which stalled his journey,” she said. “Although I’m an actress and my husband is a producer, we never pushed him into acting. His interest grew naturally, and we helped him explore it.”
She emphasized the importance of hard work and resilience in showbiz, revealing that her son was even sent to Strasbourg to learn about the realities beyond the glamour. “I always tell him this profession is not easy — it takes blood, sweat, and tears,” she said, adding that she draws inspiration from the dedication of actors like Shah Rukh Khan and Anil Kapoor.
