Huma Qureshi: I Truly Believe the Future Belongs to Female Action Stars

Mumbai – Actress Huma Qureshi recently hosted a special screening of the action-thriller Ballerina, starring Ana de Armas, and expressed her strong belief that the future of cinema lies in female-led action stories — a vision she’s determined to shape “one frame at a time.”

Taking to Instagram, Huma shared a video of the screening, attended by her family and friends — all self-proclaimed action movie lovers. The film, directed by Len Wiseman, is part of the John Wick universe.

In her caption, Huma wrote:
“Last night I hosted a special screening of #Ballerina for my friends & fam — all action movie junkies like me. There’s something incredibly powerful about watching a woman command the screen — fists, flaws, and all. I truly believe the #FutureIsFemaleAction — and I want to help build that future, one frame at a time.”

She thanked her guests for being part of the evening:
“Thank you to everyone who came, laughed, gasped, and cheered with me. Let’s keep raising hell, breaking rules, and rewriting what a heroine looks like. Who’s your favourite female action star of all time? Drop it in the comments.”

Ballerina is the fifth installment in the John Wick franchise and is set between John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum and John Wick: Chapter 4. The film, written by Shay Hatten, also stars Gabriel Byrne, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Norman Reedus, Anjelica Huston, Lance Reddick, Ian McShane, and Keanu Reeves.

On the work front, Huma will appear in Maalik, alongside Rajkummar Rao. She is also filming Season 4 of the political drama series Maharani, which features Sohum Shah, Amit Sial, Kani Kusruti, and Inaamulhaq. The series draws inspiration from real political events in Bihar during the 1990s, when Lalu Prasad Yadav appointed his wife Rabri Devi as his successor.

Additionally, she will be seen in Jolly LLB 3, starring Akshay Kumar, Arshad Warsi, Amrita Rao, Saurabh Shukla, and Annu Kapoor.
