Several Kanwariyas were injured, some of them seriously, after a bus carrying pilgrims from Nepal rammed into the rear of a truck on the Deoghar-Nawada main road in Koderma district early Friday morning.

The accident took place near Pokhardia Mor under the Satgawan police station area. According to preliminary information, the group of Kanwariyas had travelled from Nepal to Deoghar around four days ago for the pilgrimage. After completing their religious visit, they began their return journey to Nepal early Friday in the same bus.

The bus was passing through Pokhardia Mor when it collided with a truck travelling ahead of it. The impact was so severe that the front portion of the bus was badly damaged, leaving several passengers trapped inside.

Hearing the loud crash, local residents rushed to the spot and immediately began rescue efforts. The condition of the damaged bus and the sight of trapped passengers created panic among those gathered at the scene, but villagers quickly joined hands to help the injured and free those stuck inside.

Soon after receiving information about the accident, Satgawan police reached the spot and launched a joint rescue operation with local residents. After several hours of sustained efforts, the trapped Kanwariyas were safely brought out of the bus.

The injured passengers were subsequently taken for medical attention. Police officials were also assessing the circumstances that led to the collision. The accident briefly affected traffic on the busy Deoghar-Nawada route, while the rescue operation remained the immediate priority.

The incident highlights the risks faced by pilgrims travelling long distances by road, particularly during early-morning journeys when visibility and driver alertness can become critical factors.
