Mumbai: Actress and fitness enthusiast Saiyami Kher is all set to make her debut in Malayalam cinema with an upcoming yet-to-be-titled film. She will reunite on screen with actor Roshan Mathew, with whom she previously shared the screen in the 2020 drama Choked: Paisa Bolta Hai, directed and co-produced by Anurag Kashyap.
A source close to the project revealed, “Saiyami has long been interested in working in Malayalam cinema. She’s always gravitated towards films with strong storytelling, and this script immediately caught her attention. Teaming up with Roshan Mathew for a performance-driven role felt like a natural next step.”
The film will also feature acclaimed actors Amruta Subhash and Rajshri Deshpande in supporting roles. Set against the backdrop of the 2016 Indian banknote demonetisation, it follows the story of a bank cashier who discovers a hidden stash of cash in her kitchen sink.
Saiyami was most recently seen in Jaat, directed by Gopichand Malineni. The action thriller stars Sunny Deol, Randeep Hooda, and Regina Cassandra in lead roles, alongside an ensemble cast including Saiyami Kher, Jagapathi Babu, Ramya Krishnan, Vineet Kumar Singh, Prashant Bajaj, Zarina Wahab, P. Ravi Shankar, and Babloo Prithiveeraj. The film tells the gripping tale of a mysterious passenger whose obsessive quest for an apology leads to a deadly confrontation with a ruthless labourer-turned-crime boss.
Saiyami made her acting debut in the 2015 Telugu film Rey and gained wider recognition in Mirzya (2016), a Hindi film based on the Punjabi folklore of Mirza Sahiban, opposite Harshvardhan Kapoor. In 2020, she starred in the web series Breathe: Into the Shadows alongside Abhishek Bachchan. In 2021, she appeared with Nagarjuna in the action film Wild Dog as an NIA agent. Most recently, in 2023, she played a pivotal role in R. Balki’s Ghoomer.
