Iran Accuses US of Breaching Peace Framework Ahead of Talks

Tehran: A new diplomatic dispute has emerged as Iran accused the United States of violating key provisions of a proposed peace framework even before formal negotiations begin.

In an official statement, Tehran said its long-standing mistrust of Washington has deepened due to what it described as repeated breaches of commitments. The controversy centers around a “10-Point Proposal,” which had been presented as a workable basis for upcoming talks.

According to Iranian officials, three major clauses of the framework have already been violated. The first relates to the ceasefire provision, particularly concerning Lebanon, where Iran claims there has been non-compliance.

The second alleged violation involves an unauthorized drone entering Iranian airspace, which was reportedly shot down in Lar, located in Fars Province.

The third issue concerns Iran’s right to uranium enrichment, which Tehran says is clearly guaranteed under the agreement but has been denied.

Iran argued that these actions undermine the credibility of the entire negotiation process. The statement emphasized that proceeding with talks or even considering a bilateral ceasefire under such circumstances would be “unreasonable.”

Meanwhile, Pakistan has been actively trying to ease tensions. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has called for immediate ceasefires across conflict zones, including Lebanon, and has positioned Islamabad as a potential mediator.

The developments highlight the fragile trust between Tehran and Washington, casting uncertainty over whether the proposed framework can realistically pave the way for meaningful diplomatic engagement.
