Trump Shares Image Portraying Himself as ‘Acting President of Venezuela’

Washington- US President Donald Trump has shared an image on social media depicting him as the “Acting President of Venezuela,” drawing attention amid ongoing developments in US–Venezuela relations.

The image appears to be an edited version of a Wikipedia page, listing Trump as the incumbent Venezuelan president as of January 2026, while also mentioning his official roles as the 45th and 47th President of the United States.

The post comes against the backdrop of Trump’s recent remarks indicating improved ties between Washington and Caracas. Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, Trump said the United States was “working along really well” with Venezuela’s leadership, citing oil shipments and diplomatic engagement following the US raid that led to the removal of Nicolas Maduro from power.

“Venezuela is really working out well. We’re working along really well with the leadership, and we’ll see how it all works out,” Trump said.

He also revealed that Venezuela had requested the US to accept a substantial oil shipment. “She asked us, can we take 50 million barrels of oil? And I said, yes we can. It’s $4 billion, $4.2 billion, and it’s on its way right now to the United States,” Trump stated.

On potential meetings with Venezuelan leaders, Trump said he may meet Vice President Delcy Rodríguez in the future. “At some point I’ll meet. Yeah, she’s been very good,” he said. He also hinted at a possible meeting with opposition leader Maria Corina Machado. “I hear Tuesday or Wednesday. I look forward to that,” Trump added.

Trump noted strong interest from oil companies in Venezuela, while criticising ExxonMobil’s stance. “I didn’t like Exxon’s response. They’re playing too cute,” he said. He assured energy firms of safety and stability, adding that past issues stemmed from previous US administrations. “They had problems in the past because they didn’t have Trump as a president,” he remarked.

The US President also alluded to broader regional diplomacy, including discussions with Cuba, though he declined to share details. “You’re gonna find out pretty soon,” he said.

Earlier, Trump posted that “no more oil or money” would flow from Venezuela to Cuba, adding that the US military would be involved in enforcing separation between the two countries. “Venezuela doesn’t need protection anymore from the thugs and extortionists who held them hostage for so many years,” he wrote, asserting that the United States would now provide protection.
